Web Host SoftLayer Launches Data Center in San Jose
Extends SoftLayer's Capacity beyond 155,000 Servers
DALLAS, April 26, 2011 - SoftLayer Technologies, the provider of Cloud, Dedicated, and integrated environments, today announced the launch of its first data center facility in California, located in San Jose / Silicon Valley.
The new facility has a capacity exceeding 12,000 servers in three data center pods. Every server includes redundant network interface cards (NICs), providing dual-path networking structures. This allows customers a maximum of 2G connectivity and dramatic efficiency.
Operating in 11 data centers and additionally 7 network Points of Presence (POPs), SoftLayer has boosted its capacity to more than 155,000 servers. Being located directly in Silicon Valley, SoftLayer provides their services to many neighboring enterprises, technology developers, social media operators as well as to clients all over the entire globe.
The SanJose data center's functionality is completely independent, deploying redundant and distinct network resources. However, SoftLayer's technology provides a seamless inter-data center environment. The new location has 24/7 onsite monitoring and support, entrance control and multiple security protocols. It is fully connected to SoftLayer's other data centers in Houston, Dallas, Seattle, Washington D.C., as well as to the company's network Points of Presence in 7 further cities across the US.
Key features of the new data center include:
- Redundant network infrastructure - Fully-automated platform - SAS70 Type II compliance - Multiple tier 1 carriers - Unique pod design concept | |
