Fasthosts Editor's Review
Fasthosts Company Overview
The UK based FastHost, provides plans for under five pounds each month. With several features, they are actually a pretty good option for small business owners in the UK, or those who run their business there, and need an online host to operate their site. With more than one plan option, you can find something suitable for your site, and the content you need to add, for your customer and online visitors.
You can choose from 25 or 50 GB mailboxes, and at a price of under five pounds, the value for their hosting is pretty reasonable. Dedicated servers, means no downtime with your site, and managed hosting, means you are going to have help from the FastHost team, to run your site in a manner that your customer is going to appreciate. A decent price point, is a great starting point to work with this trusted host, for those who run their site in the UK.
Reliability and Performance
You do receive a 99.9% uptime guarantee; and, with the dedicated servers in place, and the fact that FastHost is a smaller hosting company, this promise may actually be a reality for customers who choose to work with them. You are not going to run in to your site going down often, and you should not have issues with a slow site; it should run smoothly, and you should have your site open easily, for any customer who wants to visit; and, for non UK customers, site speed should not be a problem.
Features and Control Panel
My sql, php security, and unlimited bandwidth, are some of the features you receive. You are also going to have backups done on a weekly basis for your site, so you won't lose content. With 25 or 50 GB mailbox space, you can host various emails. And, with the c panel control panel, keeping your site up to date, and running smoothly, should be easy for any site owner to do. With the simple to use apps, and the drag and drop capabilities, you are not going to have a hard time when you do have to make changes to your site, using the c panel format.
The support offered by FastHost, is a bit limited. They do offer phone support, but if you are outside the UK, it is important to note the times you are going to be limited to calling in. You will also find email support to be a little slower; generally takes a day to answer to emails. With online support, you are likely going to receive the quickest response; you can use the tutorials, and other online answers, to help you answer the questions you have, and issues you are dealing with when you run your online site with them.
The price is low, but if you are outside the UK, it might not be the best host for you. With reasonable pricing, and similar features to most other hosts, for UK businesses, FastHost is a good choice to run your business through.
