GreenGeeks Editor's Review

GreenGeeks Company Overview

GreenGeeks is an online host, which provides "green" hosting to customers. Powered by solar offices, and power, not only is the hosting green, their prices are low. With different online plan options, any type of online site can find a plan that is tailored to them, and fits their budget, when setting up their web site.

Price Value

For a price of $3.96, you can't ask for much more than what you receive with GreenGeeks hosting. Free site migration, free domain name for life, unlimited web space, bandwidth, email, and my SQL databases. A free marketing package is included, along with a free site builder and site layouts, and super fast activation, along with a 30 day money back guarantee, are just some of the benefits you are going to receive, through this extremely affordable hosting company.

Reliability and Performance

With dedicated servers, you get an entire server, running your site; not only does this mean your site will not go down as often, but along with a 99.9% uptime guarantee, your site will rarely, if ever go down. It is 300% wind powered, so even if electricity does go down, the hosting provider is going to be able to keep your site up and running, to ensure little to no loss for your customers, who want to reach your site.

Features and Control Panel

Some of the features include: unlimited bandwidth and disk space, unlimited domains, free site migration and starter site, Pop3 and email support, drag and drop, email accounts and email responder, and unlimited parked and sub domains. Further, you receive mailing list, joomla and wordpress set up, SSL security and other e commerce security in place, streaming video and other multimedia features are included. All this, along with the easy to use, c panel control panel, not only makes building your site easy, but gives you unlimited access to anything you need when building your site. With c panel, you can use drag and drop apps, and you can access site information from anywhere, to easily build and modify your site.

Support

Customers receive 24/7 support by phone, and online chat, in N. America. Email tickets are generally responded to the same day, so you can get an answer, whether it is over the phone, or through an email response, rather quickly. And, with 24/7, 365 days a year, you can call, write, or chat online at any time, and get a response that you need, when you need it, if you are dealing with any issues on your online site, and web hosting plan.

Conclusion

If you are a business that likes green hosting, this is a top choice host for you to consider. Not only are their offices powered by solar panels and wind turbines, they use renewable resources in their plans. This, along with the many great features, all coming in at a price of under $4, is something you won't get with many other hosts. Like all hosts they do have issues every once in a while, but for the low price, GreenGeeks is a great hosting option for small businesses.

I am an IT profesional and I have experienced a lot of different hosting companies.

I decided to give Green Geeks a try for one of my minor web site projects. I realised meanwhile that their quality is quiet average. Green Geeks' price is slightly higher than other hosts, that offer way more features and a higher support level.

There was nothing wrong, but neither am I excited. They offer some price discounts, coupons and so on. If you find a good coupon and don't need a lot of features, it can be fine.

As an IT professional, I am used to high level hosting and great SLAs. Could be my judgement is influenced by my background. I see those Green Geeks as quiet average, but still recommendable in many cases.

And by the way: That they're geeks doesn't mean they're great in hosting. Ah, and it's good they're green. My personal opinion is, that we should all take care of not wasting ressources. So one bonus star for their price value.

Affordable is one thing, but poor quality for a low price is another. Sure, Green Geeks are a low priced service provider, but after only a couple of months we can see why.

Their support is non present. They do not have resonable online tools. And our site has gone down quite a few times in this very short period of time that we have been a customer.

Greengeek's technical staff is excellent. I can't recommend them enough. It's more than I expected for $5 bucks a month.

Green Geeks is the first host I ever tried. I was worried before, but I understood it all within minutes :-)
And they only charge $4.95 for a lot of features. OK, there are cheaper hosts, but they have a good quality in comparison with the price.
